World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.

The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Dominance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in earnings.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

Other WTA Award Winners

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a 13-month break following the birth of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after securing their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third time.
