The President Invites Relatives of Shot Military Personnel to the Presidential Residence

President Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Tragic Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The president stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the loved ones of both members of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Response

Attendees came together over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that educators desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the principal of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments

Officials have accused a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident caused the government to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to owners of travel documents.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey said on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” the governor told the audience at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
