The Gruesome Animated Movie Conclusion That Lingers Fans
Out of all the mature cartoon movies I have personally viewed, nothing has remained with me quite like the dread-soaked ending of a graphically gory as well as overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.
Back in 2015’s, this Spain-based filmmaker crafted a dark, melancholy , often savage world that included a few small , forlorn glimmers of hope.
While The Unicorn Wars seems like it came from an impulse to advance the medium further, the filmmaker stated that it was rather a try to communicate a widespread, cross-cultural theme about “the common origin of all wars.”
That idea is expressed through a squad of vividly colored bears , clearly modeled after a famous line of cuddly characters.
Growing up in a society built around warmongering and the war machine, a lot of these creatures are obsessed with exterminating unicorns, because of a religious scripture that claims them they were once masters of the woods, until the unicorns forced them out.
A few have not completely accepted the indoctrination, , choose to experiment with substances and engage sexually in the woods.
In contrast to their friendly equivalents, these vivid animals show genitals and obvious sex drives.
For one especially vicious, cynical bear, the character Bluey, the conflict with unicorns turns into a path to control — and particularly to supremacy over his softer, kinder brother the character Tubby.
The character is a bully and a seeming antisocial figure , and while fear overcomes his group and takes his comrades sequentially, he takes progressively control for himself, through ever more violent, damaging approaches.
Simultaneously, the horned creatures are experiencing their own terror, in the form of a spreading, destructive monster in their woods.
“Initially, it appears as a humorous movie,” the director stated. “But then it turns into a more serious and sorrowful movie. And by the end, it transforms into a horror film.”
The Unicorn Wars starts out resembling one of the more playful movies by a legendary filmmaker, that discover a mischievous joy in letting drawn beings curse, fire weapons, or have intimate relations.
Subsequently it evolves into something more like a bleaker film by that same director, featuring progressively graphic violence , a tangible link to the actual tragedy of conflict.
By the end, it’s a complete extreme drama massacre.
The terror that makes this a Halloween-friendly viewing kicks in well before than indicated.
Unicorn Wars is suited for the hardcore fans of gore, for lovers of intense movies who want to see a movie they haven’t ever seen on-screen before, and who can handle a narrative that pulls unflinching brutality.
View it in a dark room without any distractions, and that ending will burrow deep within you and take up residence there.
