First-choice Eleven

Dean Henderson Was rarely tested to make before the break but then called into action by Arbër Hoxha’s bent shot. A sliding intervention against Qazim Laci showed excellent reading of the game. 6/10

The defender Pushed into midfield when in possession, as he has done in the past. At times was too casual on the ball and the experiment abandoned at half-time. 6

The tall defender A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, as always, but may be a replacement to his teammate at the back instead of alongside him. One wayward distribution after the break came close to a goal from the visitors. 6

The young full-back Another composed performance by the youngster after his first cap against Serbia. Saka did not capitalize on the opportunity from an exquisite backheel over the opposing backline. His position is firmly his already. Seven

Adam Wharton His first start with the national team. A bit loose on the ball however his dangerous corners posed a danger. An effective pace-controller for the boss to call upon versus teams who drop deep. Cautioned for a rash challenge. 6

Declan Rice Deliveries from corners and free-kicks were dangerous. Had room to move in left midfield yet found himself in an offside position as the pass came in front of goal. Awarded a well-earned substitution after an hour. Six

The star midfielder Played in an advanced position out wide and contributed with the hard yards. Showed glimpses of brilliance and scuffed an attempt wide. Replaced late on by a teammate, a fellow player, after being booked. 7

The winger Was presented with England’s top opening in the opening period, his strike excellently kept out from the Albanian keeper. With a teammate staying deep, he had to stretch the play out wide although his balls from wide areas varied in quality. Substituted late in the match. 6/10

The captain The difference-maker scoring 77th and 78th strikes in an England shirt. The opener a classic opportunist's goal and his next a classy finish with his head following a clever run away from the opposition. Now 32, he continues to improve with the national team stand a real opportunity in future competitions with him up top. Eight

Eberechi Eze Struggled to influence play from the left. Was presented with a decent opportunity after being played in by Bellingham however Strakosha denied him. His replacement made much more of effect in his place. 5
