Palestinian-American Teenager Freed Following Nine Months in Israel's Imprisonment

An Palestinian-American teenager who spent a nine-month period in Israel's custody without being charged gained freedom.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 at the time of his arrest in February throughout the West Bank territory, where he was visiting while residing in Florida for allegedly throwing stones against settlement residents, which he previously denied.

United States authorities expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.

Mohammed, now 16, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, according to close relatives.

Family described him as showing signs of malnutrition, and experiencing medical problems acquired while detained.

Through an official statement, the youth's uncle expressed the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Right now, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention he requires after being subjected to Israel's abuse and brutal treatment for months."

US officials announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance than the safety and security of American nationals"," it added.

A group of American legislators had signed a letter to US authorities and the administration, demanding more be done to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children operating an ice cream shop from Florida, previously claimed his son only confessed about rock throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

The father hadn't visited or spoken to Mohammed since February, learning information solely regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

The teenager remained absent formal charges in Ofer prison throughout the occupied territory.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted of serious terrorism offences and murder.

Approximately 350 Palestinian minors in security custody detained within Israeli facilities, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Several lack formal charges while advocacy organizations, including UN bodies, report instances of mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting seeking justice for their relative their cousin Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities died from beating by settlement residents following tensions in July.

At the time, defense forces stated authorities were looking into information regarding a civilian was deceased.

Both young men collaborated in the family ice cream shop based in Florida.

No charges have been filed with Sayfollah's killing.

"We anticipate United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," family representatives emphasized.
