Liverpool's Star Offers Statement to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Fallout
The striker was dropped from a European match subsequent to making accusations and stating his relationship with manager had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The manager has previously declined to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
He also implied that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I get that there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
Their results have remained strong in the games following the interview fallout. He feels the forward's comments were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and on a positive run.”
