Indianapolis Colts Face Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, fussball fans. How are you? Alles klar I trust on this fine morning kickoff to the tenth week coming directly from Germany. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (7-2) face off against the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pre-match Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in their last game?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the German anthem. Classy.
First Quarter Gameplay
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have an exciting start after Jonathan Taylor receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Recap
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is sacked and can’t keep hold of the ball.
A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for 13 yards. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Additional Week 10 Matchups
And for afters, the jumbo package starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:
(5-4) Panthers v Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Bears v Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Houston Texans v Jaguars (5-3)
