Exploring a Unique Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Poop with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have found a variety of entertaining indie games. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game includes a protagonist that is truly a dung striving to travel to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: you only need a single jump button. Throughout one hundred fifty challenges, battle tough enemies and access a shop to buy customizations for your dung hero.

Plan your jumps with caution, as a mistake requires beginning again. Jump on bubbles to hurl the poop higher, navigate disappearing platforms, and activate switches to reveal new areas. Gather currency for buying more difficult stages where things gets crazy.

Graphically, the game shows off eye-catching environments and an amazing music score. The retro graphics of shifting geometric shapes evokes memories of fans of classic titles like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to recall other games where you control a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often included fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, such content appears extensively in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already received notable recognition, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is accessible now on Steam, with the full game scheduled to launch on computers on November 19.
