Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world shared condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
