In a surprising partnership that challenges traditional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Disclosed

According to the authorized statement, "An unusual confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of prohibited rituals and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The plot features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden group.

The mission focuses on "strange experiments and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Extra Material

Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana together with several objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive implements
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This update also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Collaborations

This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
